Autumn Colour by Michael Connolly

A popular speaker for our members on introducing Autumn colour and how to make the most of it in our own gardens. A fun-filled talk with many helpful and uncommon sense tricks is the rule with Michael. A great way to kick off the gardening season.

Designing & Planting A Garden With Maintenance In Mind by Patricia Tyrrell

Award winning garden designer with two gold medals and Best In Category from Bloom. Holder of an honours degree in Landscape Horticulture from UCD and a Masters Graduate of the School of Landscape Architecture at UCD, Patricia will be speaking to us about dressing the same hard landscaped area with two contrasting planting schemes: one low maintenance and one requiring regular care.

Christmas Floral Demonstration by Sharon O'Sullivan

A Malahide favourite AOIFA-qualified speaker who will show us a number of arrangements that we can use as decorations ourselves at home for Christmas or as festive gifts. (Funds raised on the night go towards our annual donation to the local hospice.)

Garden Plants History: Discovering Irish Plant Hunters by Christopher Heavey

Followed by our AGM. An entertaining walk through history from an Irish garden perspective. Christopher is a popular speaker and has drawn on his experience working in the Botanical Gardens and researching local garden writers to add colour to his talks for us. A great night awaits us!

“The Insomniac Gardener” who has been developing her garden with her husband for the last 20 years. Rosie has been documenting her daily progress – success, failures, learning by trowel and error. An entertaining evening is promised!

Growing Vegetables for Horticultural Shows by Pat Thornton

If you have decided to grow your own and would like some tips from an expert vegetable grower, then this is the talk for you. Pat has lots of experience showing veg at Horticultural Shows around the country and will be able to answer any questions you may have. Pat hopes to cover potatoes, carrots, cabbages, peas, beans and more. Just in time for setting up your kitchen garden for 2025, come along and soak up the information!
